Silver Rainbow training is now entirely online! It is now a short and reflective eLearning and a 2-part webinar. You’ll take ACON’s LGBTI Awareness eLearning first, then attend 2 webinars that are each around 2 hours long. We have prepared all the materials, videos, activities, and virtual breakout rooms for you, using an engaging online platform.

STEPS:

  1. You complete ACON's LGBTI Awareness eLearning. (~1 hour)

  2. You attend 2 webinars that are each around 2 hours. (4.5 hours) There are options for attending both parts on the same day or splitting your attendance up by a week. 

The Silver Rainbow LGBTI Aged Care Awareness Training Project is managed by the National LGBTI Health Alliance and is being delivered collaboratively with project partners across every state and territory in Australia. It is funded by the Department of Health until June 2020.

This inexpensive, essential, and relevant eLearning module for all workers in the aged care sector will help promote a better understanding of the needs of the LGBTI people and provide staff with more confidence to deliver an inclusive, best practice service.

Audience: Health and community workers supporting ageing clients.

Duration: Around 5 hours; 1 hour eLearning and 4 hours via webinar

Requirements for the webinar: 

  • Individual access to computer/laptop with a Chrome web browser
  • High-speed internet 
  • Familiarity with general computer knowledge
  • Access to headphones/microphone (webcam is optional)

You get a certificate when you finish the eLearning module, partake in both live webinar sessions and complete the post-training assessment.

The eLearning component is a pre-requisite of the live webinar. If you do not finish the eLearning before the live webinar, you will not be approved to attend the webinar. 

  • You can defer the live webinar date once.
  • If you don’t complete the eLearning before the newly chosen webinar date, you will have to purchase a new seat.

If you miss a webinar, you will get one opportunity to attend a future webinar.

You may transfer your seat to another person up to three days before the live webinar only if you have not started any online component and there is a future date available.
