8 November – Intersex Day of Solidarity
Intersex Day of Solidarity, also known as Intersex Day of Remembrance, takes place on November 8. The Day marks the birthday of Herculine Barbin, a French intersex person whose memoirs were later published by the philosopher Michel Foucault, along with contemporary texts and a later fictionalized account.
At ACON we celebrate the diversity of our communities. So take a moment today to celebrate all the incredible intersex people around us, who continue to enrich our communities.
Find out how you can help celebrate today via Diversity Days:

HWEI (Health and Wellbeing Equality Index)
Many health, human and wellbeing organisations claim they “welcome everyone” or “treat everyone the same” regardless of who they are, how they identify, their culture, religion, gender and sexuality. But the reality is they haven’t actively checked that their services are inclusive, safe or even welcoming to many communities, including LGBT people.
Pride in Health + Wellbeing’s Health + Wellbeing Equality Index (HWEI) not only lets you measure your organisation’s inclusion, but it also helps you to ask your staff and service users about their experiences, behaviours and comfort levels at your organisation.
2021 - Staff and Service User Survey
This year organisations will have the option of participating in staff and client surveys. These two surveys can be added to your HWEI benchmarking submission to provide valuable information on your staff’s awareness and comfort levels in providing LGBT-inclusive care, as well as measuring your clients’ expectations and experiences.
The two additional surveys (which you can choose to participate in either, both or neither) will provide valuable information to your organisation to see the real impact of your inclusion work and to identify hot-spots where focused attention, communication and training may be needed. It gives you consumer and staff feedback on the impact of your inclusive services.
Download your submission documents now
The 2021 submission document and evidence guides can be downloaded now from www.PrideinHealth.com.au/HWEI.
The optional surveys will be released from 1 November or when you are sent the URL, after this date, for completion by 12th March 2021 (which is also the submission deadline). To register your organisation unique survey URLs please visit www.PrideInHealth.com.au/Survey
Your organisation can choose to participate in the index, or surveys in any combination.
