LGBTQ+ Inclusive Practice for Mental Health Services In-Person

Enhance your capacity to provide safe, inclusive, and affirming mental health support for LGBTQ+ clients.

LGBTQ+ people experience disproportionately high rates of mental ill‑health, often linked to stigma, discrimination, minority stress, and barriers to accessing culturally safe support. For many clients, their interaction with a mental health practitioner shapes whether they feel safe enough to disclose, engage, and continue seeking care. Inclusive practice is therefore essential to delivering effective, person‑centred mental health support.

This comprehensive full‑day training deepens your understanding of LGBTQ+ identities, lived experiences, and mental health priorities, while equipping you with practical strategies to embed inclusive practice into your everyday work. Developed and delivered by LGBTQ+ community members and subject matter experts, the session blends foundational knowledge with applied learning through case studies, reflective activities, and real‑world scenarios.

Across the day, you’ll explore terminology, lived experience, discrimination and its impacts, mental health determinants, barriers to care, and the practical steps practitioners can take to create culturally safe, inclusive, and affirming mental health services. Designed for professionals working in mental health support, this training supports you to confidently engage with LGBTQ+ clients and adapt your practice to meet their unique needs.
