Our Design Process

Off the Shelf training

Our off‑the‑shelf learning programs are created through a structured, evidence‑informed process that ensures every course is relevant, accurate, and grounded in real‑world LGBTQ+ experiences.

1. Understand the Need

We draw on data from the three ACON Pride Inclusion Program Indices, LGBTQ+ lived experiences, and current academic research to identify the capability areas organisations most need.

2. Define the Core Learning Outcomes

We translate these insights into clear, practical learning outcomes that support behaviour change and inclusive practice.

3. Select the Right Learning Approaches

Different modes require different design strategies. We choose approaches that best suit each format, for example, microlearning focuses on short, targeted content, while facilitated sessions emphasise discussion, reflection, and shared understanding.

4. Build Multi‑Modal Versions

We develop a core education offering and then design versions for eLearning, facilitated training, webinars, and other formats, each intentionally crafted, not simply converted.

5. Test and Refine

We review content with subject‑matter experts, test with learners, and refine based on feedback to ensure accuracy, clarity, and impact.

6. Evaluate and Update

We monitor emerging research, community insights, and sector needs to keep programs current and effective to support a process of continuous improvement.

Customised and Bespoke

For organisations seeking something more tailored, we offer customisation and bespoke design options. We begin by understanding your context, goals, workforce, and sector‑specific needs.

We then adapt or undertake a collaboratively developed learning experience that reflects your policies, scenarios, language, and culture. This may include tailored case studies, sector‑specific examples, adjusted learning outcomes, or entirely new modules.

Customised programs follow the same high‑quality development cycle, design, build, testing, and evaluation, ensuring the final product fits seamlessly into your organisation and supports meaningful, sustainable LGBTQ+ inclusion.
